Oct 7 and The Media
Reading the various media outlets to which I subscribe on Oct 7, I could not help but be struck by a couple of the headlines.
From The Globe and Mail, ‘Canada’s newspaper:
Israelis mourn on the anniversary of the Oct. 7 attack
Third anniversary highlights startling transformation in region, where retaliatory war in Gaza has left tens of thousands dead
What else could that anniversary ‘highlight’ other than that startling transformation? They did call it a ‘retaliatory war’ rather than genocide.
From Reuters:
Israelis mark three years since October 7 as Palestinians mourn Gaza’s destruction
The Israelis are ‘marking’ while the Palestinians are ‘mourning’.
How about some other headlines about other anniversaries along the same lines:
Americans mark 85 years since December 7 as Japanese mourn Island’s destruction
Or perhaps –
Poles mark 87 years since September 1 as Germans mourn Fatherland’s destruction
